Willkommen Winter | Michigan's Little Bavaria
As the cold winter wind fills the air and the shimmering snow covers the ground, do thoughts of summertime dance through your head? While we too look forward to a warm Summer’s day in Michigan, we can’t help but enjoy the simple magic that comes to town every winter.
And with that we say Willkommen to Winter in Michigan’s Little Bavaria!
Being acclaimed as one of the best Christmas destinations is something we take seriously, adding a little extra holiday magic to the air is a top priority for us – but this magic doesn’t just disappear on December 26th. This magic can be felt all winter long.
Before the first snowfall hits the ground, the sparkling lights around town start going up. Throughout the season, the warm white glow of these lights can be seen from the south end of Main Street and all the way north. Every night at 5pm, these lights turn on, adding a little extra sparkle to the winter darkness that so quickly swoops in. And if you’re lucky, a beautiful fluffy white snow will accompany these lights as you walk around – creating a real life snow globe for you!
If the cold winter air is something you like to avoid, cozy up at the fire bar and enjoy a delicious drink at Prost! Wine Bar and Charcuterie.
Or wander across the street to Frank’s Muth where you can gather around their fire tables and enjoy a tasty treat from The Cheese Trap!
But if the cold air is something you enjoy – bundle up and visit one of the outdoor parks in Frankenmuth. (The parks throughout Michigan’s Little Bavaria may just be one of our best hidden gems!) Grab your family and go on a sledding adventure in Memorial Park, or gather your skis for a cross-country skiing trip through the park. And if the conditions aren’t too icy, bundle up for a peaceful winter’s walk along the Cass River in Heritage Park.
Test your skates by taking a spin around the ice at the Frankenmuth Ice Rink.
After playing around in the snow a bit, warm up with a delicious cup of hot cocoa. Add a little extra magic to your cup with a drizzle of caramel or a splash of white chocolate at the Harvest Coffeehouse or Kernel Benny’s. Then top off your winter’s day with a sweet treat from Zak & Mac’s Chocolate Haus, SugarHigh Bakery, or one of the many sweet spots around town. We believe the sweet treats of the holiday season don’t have to disappear after the New Year. Discover all of the bakeries and sweet spots around town before visiting to best plan your trip.
