7 Awesome Springtime Activities in Frankenmuth

Spring is finally here and we have put together a list of the top must-do activities.

Spring is in the air!

1.) The Flowers

ankenmuth is known for beautifully colored flowers that spread all throughout the city. Every year, the City of Frankenmuth places 350 huge hanging baskets across the Downtown stretch, not to mention the thousands of flowers planted throughout town. Putting those two ingredients together on a 2 mile stretch of road makes for A LOT of color! They are the perfect reminder that spring is finally here!

Travel Tip: If you visit during the Bavarian Easter Celebration, you will find brightly colored Easter eggs hidden throughout the flowers that decorate our springy streets.

2.) Enjoying a delicious meal with a great patio view

There is nothing better than enjoying your lunch or dinner and drinks with friends in the beautiful weather on a patio. In Frankenmuth, we have many great ways to enjoy outdoor dining! So as the weather begins to warm up, sit back, bask in the sunshine and watch the horse-drawn carriages go by.

3.) Soaking up the sunshine with your furry friend

Frankenmuth is full of parks and we even have a dog park designed specifically for your best friend! And if you are looking to go shopping with your four legged companion, just look for the “Pets Welcome” sign on shop doors. There are many shops in the River Place Shops that welcome dogs.

4.) Ice. Cream. Season.

Frankenmuth has many places to stop in and grab a scoop. Whether you prefer mint chocolate chip piled high or vanilla in a waffle bowl topped with hot fudge and sprinkles, we can provide the napkins.

Travel Tip: While you're on the hunt to taste every flavor of ice cream in Michigan's Little Bavaria, pick up a Gnome Hunt to find all of the gnomes that live here too!

5.) Spring Festivals

It wouldn’t be spring in Frankenmuth without festivals to enjoy! From mid-March through Memorial Day Weekend we have something to celebrate: Bavarian Easter Celebration, Bringin’ Back the 80’s, World Expo of Beer, Dog Bowl, and Balloons Over Bavarian Inn. 6.) The Cass River is officially open for business

The Cass River has finally thawed and the ducklings are back. Along with the beauty of nature is the beauty of sitting back and relaxing on the gorgeous Bavarian Belle Riverboat, enjoying the scenery and an hour-long narrated tour. If a little wine and chocolate pairing floats your boat, then Frankenmuth Fun Ships Tour & Tasting is just downriver.

Please note: Opening day for both boating services is weather dependent, so please check in with each business for updated information.

7.) Shopping at local boutiques and businesses

Shopping in Frankenmuth is fun year-round. But there is something so wonderful about shopping on a sunny, Spring day. Strolling along Main Street and taking in the beautiful architecture, or walking the paths of the River Place Shops and stopping to smell the flowers. You might even score on a spring sale!
